This speaks directly to the previous post.
When the whole McClurkin storm started brewing The Enemy thought "meh! no biggy." Barack is stuck betwixt a rock and a hard place on this one. Should he risk ruining the delicate relationship he'd forged with the African American faithful over this?
This is just one of many uncomfortable decisions Obama and his supporters will be forced to make on the long hard road to the White House. "It's politics" The Enemy reasoned, "and smart politics means choosing your battles wisely.
With so many varied constituents crowded into the modestly sized Obama tent, somebody was bound to get their toes stepped on eventually. Do you stop the whole show to complain about your injury? or do you quietly suck one up for the team?
"Keep your good eye on the prize" The Enemy reasoned. Let the Evangelical section have it's little 'Gay Begone' miracle, eventually some YouTube moment or jilted ex would emerge to argue our point for us.
That was then, before McClurkin's performance over the weekend. This little piece of theater did warrant that Obama step up to the plate in person and state clearly and emphaticly to his loyal gay supporters –— with no Ifs, Ands or Buts'–— his position on "The Gay" issues.
Instead aides handed out a three page memo. Basically a note passed to us in gym that reads:
"You know we're BFF, right? Just not when anyone's watching, o.k?
Hugz, and don't forget to vote"
Love, Barack
Fuck you.
