O.K., This is totally disturbing and a potential bombshell.
It appears that the CDC is about to release new data indicating an unprecedented 50% rise in HIV infections.
This instantly raises some questions;
Has there actually been a dramatic jump in the number of seroconversions? CDC officials have said privately that the higher numbers of HIV cases appear to be driven by more rigorous and accurate HIV reporting by the states of existing cases rather than any real increase in the number of new cases. And, if there has not been a rise in the number of new infections, why are the numbers still so much higher than we believed in the first place?
Of course accusatory fingers are, at this moment, being unsheathed and sharpened. Some point to failures within the current administration, with it's unrealistic sex non-education and abstinence-only policies. While others lay the blame squarely at the 'barebackers' back door.
The Enemy finds it interesting the number of people who automatically assume the increase as occurring primarily within the homosexual male population. African Americans comprise ~13% of the US population, yet are ~43% of the HIV+ community. Where is the message not getting through?
